Case Study - Insurance MGA Deploying Mobile Inspection
| On Windows Mobile Smartphones |
Field inspectors at a major MGA firm in San Francisco have been using paper based
processes to record property inspection data for years. Once inspectors
returned to their office they had to retype data into a computer. This manual process became a serious drag to their productivity, while double data entry often
caused errors, creating problems from a regulatory perspective. Management evaluated many options for an automated
solution, including Windows Mobile, Palm, mobile phone and Tablet PC. They
chose Harmonisoft to develop a Windows Mobile application to automate these
processes. The developed application
was completely data driven, giving administrators tremendous flexibility when
needing to modify the forms. The handheld application was integrated with IBM's
DB2 Anywhere Sync Server to synchronize inspection data with company's IBM DB2
database on an IBM AS400 Server. Camera functions were built into the inspection software
to allow inspectors to take pictures in the field and then transfer pictures to
the inspection file folder automatically
Since its launch, inspectors have completed hundreds of inspections. The
automated mobile inspection has greatly boosted the productivity of field
inspectors, and helped to keep a clean audit trail for regulatory compliance.
