Case Study - Insurance Web Quote Application

A leading professional liability insurance company in the San Francisco Bay
Area was looking to develop an online quoting system. The company wanted to
connect the web quote form with internal rating system, and send the quote
document to its underwriters for review. The company chose Harmonisoft to help
it develop its system.
Microsoft .Net and SQL Server were chosen as the development platform. A
web-based quote form was integrated with the company's policy management system
using web services. Integrating with a rating
engine to produced premium quote and a underwriting module was developed to create
underwriting messages. Premium quotes were included in a Microsoft Word quote letter, generated on the fly. These quote letters were
emailed to the underwriter responsible for the prospect's territory. Microsoft
Biztalk Server was used in the background to control the quoting workflow
process and integration with legacy systems.
The above system has been in production for five years, and
generated high ROI for the company. After deployment,
Harmonisoft continued to develop additional features, in addition to providing
ongoing maintenance support.
A recent revision and expansion of the system utilized BEA
(now Oracle) Aqua Logic Business Process Management system, and Aqua Logic User Interaction Portal.
The goal was to develop a web 2.0, SOA based software solution aimed at
complete end-to-end automation of the new business lifecycle. Our on-site
business analyst and software architect gathered requirements, and carried out
system designs. Our China-based development team developed the .Net 2.0 and
Ajax user interfaces. The combination of on-shore and off-shore teams saved
this client 60% of the cost of a US-based development.
